CINDI workshop

Foreword

The CINDI (Cabauw Intercomparison Campaign of Nitrogen Dioxide measuring Instruments) took place in Cabauw -The Netherlands- in June-July 2009. The main goal of the campaign was to intercompare a broad range of NO2 measuring instruments, to progress in our understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the different methods and retrieval algorithms, and to investigate the usefulness of the resulting NO2 data sets for satellite validation. In addition other parameters such as, aerosol, H2O, O3, CHOCHO, and BrO have been measured.
Over the last few months data has been processed, analysed, and intercompared. Discussion have been ongoing for example at the NO2 profiling workshop held at IUP Bremen.

The workshop will provide an opportunity to all CINDI participants to present and discuss their most recent results, and to assess the status of joint activities and papers. We envisage the following main topics :

  • Results of the semi-blind inter-comparison.
  • Results of the NO2 profiling subgroup.
  • First aerosol profiling inter-comparison results.
